POS shifts and cash

A shift is one cashier's time on a terminal. It starts with the cash in the drawer and ends with counting it, so every difference is found the same day.

Open a shift

On the POS, open the shift panel, count the cash in the drawer, enter it as the Opening float, and tap Open shift.

During the shift

  • Cash in / out: record cash put into or taken out of the drawer (for example change from the safe, or paying a delivery), with the amount, a reason and a note.
  • X report: the shift's figures so far, without closing it. Print it with Print X report.

Close a shift

  1. Tap Close shift. Fiscal shows the Expected cash.
  2. Count the drawer and enter the Counted cash. The Difference is shown.
  3. If the difference is more than the limit in POS settings, a manager must approve it with their PIN.
  4. Tap Close shift (Z). The Z report prints.

The counted cash moves from the terminal's cash account to the main cash or safe account, and any difference is posted to the cash difference account. All shifts are listed in the Shift History (X / Z) report.
